What is RCIP?
RCIP replaces the previous Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP) starting January 2025. It allows foreign workers with a valid job offer from a designated employer in participating rural communities to apply for permanent residence. This program helps address labor shortages in rural areas while welcoming newcomers to contribute to local economies and communities.
Who Can Apply?
To qualify for the RCIP, you must:
- Have a full-time, non-seasonal job offer from a designated employer in an RCIP community
- Meet minimum work experience requirements related to your job (usually 1 year in the last 3 years)
- Demonstrate language proficiency in English or French (based on the job’s NOC TEER level)
- Have at least a Canadian high school diploma or equivalent education
- Show proof of funds to support yourself and your family
- Intend to live and work in the designated rural community

RCIP is active in 14 rural communities across Canada, including locations in Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia. Examples include Thunder Bay, Timmins, Brandon, Moose Jaw, and Pictou County.
